About

My name is Keegan Baatz, and I am a photographer living in Pullman, Washington. I am currently working towards my MFA (Masters of Fine Art) at Washington State University. I received my BFA from Black Hills State University in May of 2023. My photo work consists of portraiture, fine art, and some landscape. For booking, contact, or print purchases, please refer to my socials linked below or reach out to me through my email.

I create art about reality intertwining with dreams. I explore my lived experiences and also areas of transitions and seclusion: both physical and non-physical. When others view my work, I want them to view these places with a sense of familiarity but also uncertainty of what is familiar. I use duals/duality and experiment with fragmentations and the temporal. To start my process, I explore imagery and turn them into sculptures/installations objects. The images are always the starting point for me, influencing my making as it progresses. Also, I am interested in when separations recombine into new compositions. The inspiration for my work comes from an array of environments: the backcountry, hinterland, forgotten areas, roadsides, secluded paths, rural areas, gravel roads - the land behind.
